Tedashii kicks off the new year with a bang as he releases his first single, “IYKYK” (If You Know, You Know). This track marks the beginning of the rollout for the highly-anticipated Dead or Alive Pt. 2 series, following the success of its predecessor released in September of the previous year.
As the lead single for the upcoming EP, “IYKYK” introduces a fresh EDM-trap-influenced high-energy sound to Tedashii’s discography. Known for his commitment to self-reflection, Tedashii aims to showcase the fullness of his identity and the person God made him to be through his evolving music.
In Tedashii’s words, “This song is all coming from a place of pride in knowing God. I’m proud of what I know and who I am because of Him. All of us who follow God know how amazing it is to have our lives submitted to His will, and this song is for those people. How do I have joy despite my circumstances? Well, if you know, you know…”
The upcoming project, Dead or Alive Pt. 2, serves as a continuation of the compelling narrative initiated by Dead or Alive Pt. 1, released in September 2023. With over four million streams to date, the first part delves into Tedashii’s struggles, including battles with mental health, injustice, and a poignant journey against the forces of darkness.
Tedashii shares his inspiration, stating, “At several points in my own life, I’ve felt crushed under the weight of so many hardships and I’ve even attempted to end it all. It was in that moment I was faced with a choice, to live or die. Dead Or Alive is my journey of choosing to live, while saying to the listener what I said to myself: dead or alive, you decide.”
Earlier this week, Tedashii provided a sneak peek into Dead or Alive Pt. 2 with a revealing video. Having shared his deepest life experiences, he’s now driven by the realization that he’s still here, alive, and believes that God has a purpose for him. Tedashii hopes his story resonates with those who have faced similar challenges, inspiring them to choose life abundantly, just as he has.
